What to expect at your bridal trial
You may be wondering whether you even need a bridal trial. Is it a waste of time and money? The answer to that is no. A bridal trial will not only enable you see what you will look like on your big day but also see if your skin agrees with the makeup used. The last thing you want on your big day is a nasty reaction to the products used!
What happens at your makeup trial?
Firstly, you will get to meet your makeup artist which means you’ll have a familiar face on your wedding day which helps if the wedding nerves are setting in.
Then together you will discuss your wedding, things such as the style of your wedding dress. Discussing your dress helps so your makeup compliments it. Then you will discuss the colour scheme and what colours you want for your makeup, particularly your eye makeup. The makeup artist can advise you which colours will suit your eye colour and skin tone but the final decision is yours.
You will go over the schedule of your big day, discussing time of ceremony, location of makeup application and how many people require makeup.
During the trial you will have access to a mirror so you can make sure your makeup is going the way you planned it, at this point you must always stay honest. It is easier to change the makeup during the process rather than at the end. It is also crucial to be honest with your makeup artist as they want you to be happy with your look. Remember if you are happy with your makeup you will recommend their services to others so it benefits everyone.
Any alterations need to be made at the time of the trial once your makeup artist has left you will need to book another appointment so bare this in mind as it would end up costing you extra money.
Some people choose to have more than one trial as they cannot decide on which look they like.
If you are happy with your makeup artist and the look they have created you can go away and see how your makeup looks throughout the day and how it holds. Your wedding makeup needs to last a long time!
Then you pay your deposit for your wedding day.
When should I book my wedding trial?
Firstly you need to find out whether your wedding date is available with your chosen makeup artist/s. You may choose to have multiple trials to find your perfect makeup artist.
Appointments go fast particularly fridays and weekend appointments and over the wedding season. These can be booked up over 12 months in advance for some, so don't leave it late as you may find the top makeup artists will not have your day available.
If you don't want to put a deposit down for your wedding day until you've had your trial then I recommend having your trial asap as your day may get booked up whilst your waiting. If this is a long time before you wedding then it may be advisable to book another 8 weeks before your wedding as things change. Yes its extra money however on the grand scheme of your wedding and great photos to look back on its a few pounds well spent.
